I read these books religiously. I was in love with these books. Gossip Girl was the name of the series. When I saw the words Gossip Girl no matter what the topic was I was going to write about it. When I read the title I had to read it over and over again. “Gossip Girl among top 10 books eyed for ban.” What did it mean ban, for life, from the public? I read further down the paragraph it said the books were “pornographic, a dangerous depiction of class hatred.” I remember back to reading the books, yes they did have sex in them and every body was out to get everyone else in life but it was a good book to learn from. I taught me that you shouldn’t drink because you probably will get in trouble, and you shouldn’t have sex at a young age or you might run into some problems. I would agree to ban the books from elementary schools but those books should not be there in the first place. I read these books in seventh and eight grade I got the books from the public library are they saying I shouldn’t read them? A friend had recommended then to me so are all those girls not supposed to read them? I wished they had them at our middle school and so did lots of other girls.
This got me thinking if they were going to ban the book what would happen to the TV show? If they are going to take away books which is reading which is good our literacy why would wouldn’t they takeaway the show. Would they rather have us watch the show which they also have sex in and watching TV is not good for you which then could lead to obesity. If they took away Gossip Girl the TV show they would have to take away a lot of other shows too because I have seen way worse. It just makes me wonder if the people who make the banned books list thought of the out come.
