Common Cause of Death

“Obesity causes100, 000 U.S. cancer cases” By Unknown source explains why being over weight is more unhealthy than you think. There are many causes of cancer but one of the most commonly cause of cancer is obesity. The most common case of cancer is endometrial cancer which is a cancer that forms in the uterus. Cancer is the leading cause of death in the United States. More than 26 percent of Americans are obese. So why would some one want to risk getting cancer and wanting to do the things you like because you physically or mentally couldn’t. If you like to run but if you’re obese you can’t run or you get to tired fast. If you like to go shopping but you don’t want to try things on because you don’t like the way things like on you. So why would you put your self through all that pain. Yes, some people can’t help being over weight, but those who can help should try to do something even if it is small, like eating properly or going on a walk two or three times a week. This made me think, what point is the author trying to make? That it is unhealthy to be over weight or warning those who are on the line of being over weight? I think that the author is trying to make sure every one know the damage of being fat so they won’t get any more overweight.

Lies in the hands of the teachers

Looking into peoples eyes, asking questions what really helps you get the job. When I was reading “Rigor Redefined” by Tony Wagner in this article there are three parts to in it, the first part is called “The Schooling Students Need” it said students need seven skills to axel in the 21st century. The seven skills are; first, critical thinking and problem solving, this means you are able to make decisions on your own. Second, collaboration and leadership you are able to take charge if something goes wrong. Third, agility and adaptability you must be able to change your positions such as working on something else with out getting made. Forth, interactive and entrepreneurialism as long as you try you are a good worker if you don’t do any thing right then you might not be what you’re looking for. Fifth, effective oral and written communication, you have to be able to talk with other people and write with other people such as an email. Sixth, accessing and analyzing information, you need to be able to look for curtain information and know what you’re looking at. Seventh, curiosity and imagination, able to be nice to someone and manners, imagination is when you can think of ideas and make it bigger. After reading this I was thinking how much of this do I already know how to do and how often do I do these things?
The second part of this article is called “The Schooling Students Get” in this part it did a study of observing classrooms for more than 20 years. They only observed AP classes as I read this it was very awkward to read because nobody talked in the classes they would just listen to the teachers and take notes. The kids in the class seemed as if they didn’t have very good communication skills. In all of my classes almost every one talks and adds comments to what we are talking about. If there are people that don’t talk the teachers try to bring the kids into the conversation. I like that kind of environment because I feel more open in this type of classroom.
In the last article “Rigor for the 21st Century.” In this paragraph they talked about how people are just taught to pass tests not to know what to do with the information. If the teachers work with the students so then they can get better at interacting with people. They also say that the online schools only help you with four of the seven skills which you need all of the skills to excel in your job life. In the big picture most of these point lies in the hands of the teachers.

Ewww Trash!!

http://http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33226604/ns/us_news-weird_news/"Body buried under 8 feet of trash in home."By Associated Press. How bad trash really is, is it bad enough to kill? A 71 year old lady was found died in her home under eight feet of trash. The only reason the family noticed she was missing was because they haven’t heard from her. They obviously don’t really check up on her because they would notices that she was literary living in a dump. The story didn’t tell us how she died but some how she ended up under a big pile of trash in her home. How could someone live in trash wouldn’t you get sick your self? How could you let your trash get so bad that you just let it sit on the floor? Eight feet is a lot of trash any where. When I was reading this, what kept running through my mind was, was this lady fat how can you have that much trash? I was curious how long dose it take an average person to create around eight feet tall trash piles. It said that an average person creates 29 pounds of trash per week and 1,600 pounds in a year. I’m not to sure how tall or how to convert pounds in to height, but I’m guessing it took this lady more than a year to have that much trash. That means that the woman had to smell all of those fumes for more than a year. I thought this would be a good thing to write about because a couple weeks ago there was a man living in trash, they arrested him. Somebody called the polices because the stench was so bad, some of the police couldn’t even breath it smelled so bad. I don’t know how the man didn’t get in trouble sooner because he lived in an apartment and you could probably smell that pretty easily. Wouldn’t the people around him smell the disgusting smell of garbage? This led me thinking about obesity. Are we so obese that we don’t even care about garbage we create, just about how good the food is?

Gossip Girl

I read these books religiously. I was in love with these books. Gossip Girl was the name of the series. When I saw the words Gossip Girl no matter what the topic was I was going to write about it. When I read the title I had to read it over and over again. “Gossip Girl among top 10 books eyed for ban.” What did it mean ban, for life, from the public? I read further down the paragraph it said the books were “pornographic, a dangerous depiction of class hatred.” I remember back to reading the books, yes they did have sex in them and every body was out to get everyone else in life but it was a good book to learn from. I taught me that you shouldn’t drink because you probably will get in trouble, and you shouldn’t have sex at a young age or you might run into some problems. I would agree to ban the books from elementary schools but those books should not be there in the first place. I read these books in seventh and eight grade I got the books from the public library are they saying I shouldn’t read them? A friend had recommended then to me so are all those girls not supposed to read them? I wished they had them at our middle school and so did lots of other girls.
This got me thinking if they were going to ban the book what would happen to the TV show? If they are going to take away books which is reading which is good our literacy why would wouldn’t they takeaway the show. Would they rather have us watch the show which they also have sex in and watching TV is not good for you which then could lead to obesity. If they took away Gossip Girl the TV show they would have to take away a lot of other shows too because I have seen way worse. It just makes me wonder if the people who make the banned books list thought of the out come.

What should we spend our money on?

I was watching the youtube video "World on fire" exspecting something about something were doing wrong. But it was about what we use our money for and what that money could be worth in other places around the world also what we take for granted. We could pay one editor or we could put onehundered kids in school in Tanzania for a year for the cost of $2,500. Which would you rather pay for? Another part of this youtube video was about a woman who works two jobs sixteen hours a day seven days a week. One of her jobs is sealing oranges she sells each orange for two cents she normally sells fifty oranges a night on an avarage so she would make one dollar a night. She make aroound twohundered dollars a year just so she can send her kid to school. That makes me feel so greedy because compared to her life my life would be a dream to her even better that a dream. I also never realized how lucky I am to go to school every day. After watching this video made me rethink on what I should spend my money on.

Future Students

Our writing might be dull and we might not be able to do thing on our with out computers but what we can do with computers is far more than a piece of paper and a pencil can do. In the video “Machines are us” if you think about we work these powerful machines we are the machines, we tell the machine what to do It might find the information for us but we put it together. They control our lives we communicate and learn from computers. In the reading “New literacy” the professor talks about how type writer and how every thing had to be write and you couldn’t mess up and how not that many people had them and if you did that was a big deal and now if you don’t have one you are un connected. This document and video have in common is that our live need these machines

Stepped On

I was looking down the line of all of the post that in my in box and one title in particular stood out to me. "18 Woman Trampled in Iran". that got me thinking that elephants or something big had to have done this, but eighteen women is a lot to be trampled by any thing. As I was reading into it more it said that they were waiting for free flour and then people yes people stepped on them. Could you just imagine being stepped on by people and nobody helping you up and you were there for the same reason as every one else, and you were the one being stepped on. The worst thing about this is that they were killed they werent just steped on once or twice but accedent they were killed and it takes alot to be killed by being stepped on. That is just as bad as being stone but even that is a punishment. These were inosent women. Its so sad that people would go to this for just to feed there familys, the goverment should look at that as a sign that there country needs help. One person i hve heard of being stepped on but eighteen people is a little much.
